Workshop Details

Workshops are every week  and offer our own approach to Butoh dance,through body research, improvisation, imagination Work and performance skills.

The warm up will contain different techniques of body work, i.e. Yoga, Qi Gong, Meditation. The second part will contain basic techniques of Butoh Dance. Then finally a free dance section where elements of the practice can be improvised within a performance. We shall endeavour to invite live musicians for some weeks and this will be advertised on the website.

The aim of this kind of practice is to bring the mind and body to focus, mixing the subtle tastes of simplicity within the complex. We shall work on authenticity and the search of ones own dance to develop ones own original performance skills. This research will endeavour to explore and push beyond the boundaries of the mind-body phenomenon and celebrate those rare living moments in poetic movement.
